Most garage door emergencies come down to a handful of parts under heavy tension: the springs that counterbalance a door weighing 130–400 lb, the lift cables those springs drive, and the rollers and tracks that guide the door. When one of them fails, the door can become impossible to move — or worse, move unpredictably.
Our technicians carry the common springs, cables, rollers and opener parts on the truck, so most emergency repairs are finished in a single visit. Before we leave, every door gets a full safety check: balance, auto-reverse and the photo-eye sensors. After storm damage in Florida, we also tell you whether the door can be repaired or needs a rated replacement and a permit; see hurricane-rated doors in Florida and Florida garage door permits.

Emergencies we handle every day
Broken torsion or extension spring
A loud bang from the garage, a gap in the spring above the door, or a door that suddenly feels impossibly heavy. Don't keep trying the opener — it can strip the gear or pull the door off track.
Door off its track
Rollers that jump the track leave the door crooked and unstable. We re-seat the door, straighten or replace bent track, and find what caused it.
Snapped or frayed lift cable
One side of the door sits lower than the other, or a cable hangs loose. Cables are under full spring tension and should only be replaced by a trained technician.
Opener not working
Motor hums but nothing moves, the door reverses for no reason, or the remote and wall button stop responding. We diagnose the opener, logic board, sensors and wiring on site.
Door stuck open
An open garage is an open door to your home. We get it closed and secure the same day whenever possible.
Impact damage
Bumped by a car or damaged in a storm? We secure the opening and repair or replace the damaged sections.

Emergency Garage Door Repair: common questions
Can I open my garage door with a broken spring?
Not safely. The spring does almost all of the lifting, so the door is suddenly very heavy and can drop. Pull the red emergency release only if the door is fully closed, and call a technician rather than forcing it open.
Do you really come out at night and on weekends?
Yes. Emergency service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.
Is it safe to replace a garage door spring myself?
We don't recommend it. Torsion springs store enough energy to cause serious injury, and the job requires winding bars and the right spring size for your door's weight. It's the most common cause of DIY garage door injuries.
How do I know if the problem is the opener or the door?
Pull the emergency release and try lifting the door by hand about halfway. If it stays put and moves smoothly, the door is balanced and the problem is likely the opener. If it's very heavy or slams down, the springs or cables are the problem — stop and call us.
