Garage Door Spring Repair & Replacement
Springs lift almost all of your door's weight. When one breaks, the door turns into a dead weight — we replace it safely, often the same day.

Most garage doors are counterbalanced by either torsion springs mounted on a bar above the opening or extension springs that run alongside the horizontal tracks. They're wound or stretched to hold hundreds of pounds of tension, and every open-and-close cycle wears them a little. Eventually the steel fatigues and the spring snaps — often with a loud bang that sounds like something fell in the garage.
Spring replacement is the single most common garage door repair, and also the most dangerous one to attempt yourself. Our technicians match the replacement spring to your door's weight, height and track setup, replace springs in pairs when they've worn together, and finish with a balance and safety test.

Garage Door Spring Repair & Replacement: common questions
Can I open my garage door if a spring is broken?
Avoid it. The opener isn't designed to lift the door's full weight and can be damaged, and lifting by hand is risky because the door can drop. Leave it closed if possible and call a technician.
Should both springs be replaced at the same time?
On a two-spring door, usually yes. Both springs have done the same number of cycles, so the second one is typically close to failing, and a matched pair keeps the door balanced.
How long do garage door springs last?
Standard springs are commonly rated around 10,000 cycles — roughly 7–10 years for a door used a few times a day. High-cycle springs can last considerably longer.
Why shouldn't I replace a torsion spring myself?
A wound torsion spring stores enough energy to break bones if a winding bar slips. It also has to be sized to your door's exact weight. It's one repair that's worth leaving to a trained technician.
